Kate Bush’s classic 1985 single “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” garnered an explosion of interest and popularity through its use in the fourth season of Strange things.

The song rose to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart dated June 18, 2022, 37 years after its initial release. The single, taken from the 1985 Bush classic love dogs, had previously peaked at No. 30 on November 30, 1985.

In a rare public statement, the British art rock legend shared his excitement over the renewed interest in ‘Running Up That Hill’.

“You may have heard that the first part of the fantastic and gripping new series of ‘Stranger Things’ was recently released on Netflix,” Bush wrote in a statement on his website. “It features the song ‘Running Up That Hill’ which young fans who love the show are giving a whole new lease of life – I love it too!”

The singer-songwriter added: “Because of this, ‘Running Up That Hill’ is charting the world and entering the UK chart at No. 8. It’s really exciting! Thank you so much to everyone who supported the song. I look forward to the rest of the series in July.

Despite its second life in 2022, “Running Up That Hill” has been a beloved hit for decades, and music stars often put their own spin on this booming track.
