These days, there seem to be more playlist submission companies than ever before, but with so many shady stipulations associated with them, how do you know which ones you should invest your money in? Because indie artists like you often have a shoestring budget when it comes to music promotion. Although services like Playlist Push top many Spotify promotional service lists and recommendations, that doesn’t mean they’re the best for you. So we’ve done the heavy lifting and found our favorite alternatives to Playlist Push. Sites like these are unusual ways to get your music on playlists and connect with curators and artists.

Each offers slightly different ways to showcase your music, but it’s fun to find the best one for you.

As with most things in the music industry, you get what you put in and you always get what you pay for. Many online services promote free music promotions, but they are rarely worth the time and effort. From my own experience, I would steer clear of any free music marketing hacks or services when it comes to getting your music heard.

That’s why all promotional services in this Push Playlist Alternatives list are paid services. If you want the best results, it takes an investment. But if you’re serious about your music career, you’ll probably know it’s a worthwhile investment to put money behind your music marketing.

I’ve been in the music game for a while and have worked with my fair share of PR agencies and marketing companies. I know how many of these online playlist promotion services work. I can tell which ones are legit. Partnered Projects is one of the few companies that are legit and also deliver results at an affordable price. Their feeds don’t come from specific click farm city locations; they are quality and authenticity helps build your fanbase organically instead of just boosting your numbers for a short time.

I’ve had an amazing experience so far with the Partnership Projects. It is a legit platform worth investing in if you are confident in your abilities. It’s amazing and deserves the first position on this list of recommendations.

It can be seen as positive or negative, depending on how you see it. Indie Music Academy focuses on quality over quantity when it comes to its relationships with curators and the music lists they create, so there’s less chance you’ll be placed on many playlists. However, it can also make placement more difficult.

It’s okay if you don’t get added to many playlists. It is better to add to a few very active lists because you will get more streams. We tried running a Playlist Push campaign which got a similar number of streams. Still, it would have cost $200 less if I had gone with Indie Music Academy.

However, there was also more risk – we weren’t guaranteed to get Playlist Push streams. So while some other platforms might have been more cost-effective, they were often more of a gamble.

Your friends and family will probably say your music is great. Still, you need to get out of that comfort zone quickly and see how your music resonates with strangers! Some comments are constructive and go into great detail. I’ve seen playlists that have taken the time to be accurate and give their honest opinion on the songs. Refusals often occur without any explanation. This can be in the form of an unanswered email or people not responding to your music. Answers on SubmitHub aren’t always sugar-coated. You might receive constructive criticism, vague rejections, or unhelpful and unpleasant comments.

Groover is a France-based company, and their roster of curators mirrors one with mostly European curators. But they also have non-European curators. If you’re looking to target the EU market, that’s a big plus. However, let’s say you are primarily looking for US-based coverage. In this case, you might want to think twice before putting all your Grooviz in the jar. Overall I was happy with using Groover.

Although the number of broadcasts did not make my career explode, my coverage was above average for a public relations campaign.

I always say that promoting music is like building a snowball; it becomes more important over time. If you’re thinking of going viral with your first Groover campaign, you need to clarify your expectations. But a Groover campaign can be a great tool if you’re looking to steadily grow with multiple placements.

Omari is honest, relatable, and somewhat successful. Although they didn’t reach their prediction, the part could be because the song was inappropriate for playlists. Compared to other social media campaigns, their dollar-to-stream ratio is better than many producers can do if they get exposure.

Predicting success as an artist is complex. It’s like running a business in that sometimes decisions work out and sometimes they don’t. The key is to weigh the pros and cons and guess what’s going to happen. Paid promotion can help, but the best growth comes from organic growth.

You can’t buy success, but you can invest in it to increase your chances. Omari is a great option, to start with. Still, it’s not ideal for everyone as everyone’s musical tastes are unique.
