Introducing indie pop artist Molly Millington

Just under two years ago, Molly Millington showed up with the mesmerizing “Circus Animal.”

She followed that up last year with singles “Ring Master” (another serving of quirky, whimsical indie pop) and “October” (which finds Molly exploring deeper, emotive sonic territory) which showcases a talent in booming intended for playlists everywhere.

Now Molly has been added to Groovin The Moo’s fresh lineup at the Maitland stage later this month. She also supports Thelma Plum on her sold-out national tour.

Who is… Molly Millington has gone through many phases, growing from a full fledged country singer who wrote and released numerous death ballads to a brilliant, trippy pop artist who is dedicated to delivering songs that make you think and feel better. deeply, combined with a gripping live performance.

My first gig was… John Fogerty when I was 11.

In the studio… I usually feel overwhelmed with emotion hahaha because music for me is my therapy.

If I could shoot with someone… It would be Yebba, John Mayer, Allen Stone, Dolly Parton, Greta Van Fleet. . . the others are dead.

Social media is… A highlight reel.

My favorite app right now… Is the voice memos or notes haha; probably not the answer you were looking for, but all the other apps make me sad.

My most embarrassing moment to date was the moment… I embarrass myself every day, nothing really stands out.

Life on the road can be… Absolutely amazing, but also quite lonely.

If you’d like to have me on your bill, all I’m asking is that the rider contain… A ripe banana.

The scariest scenario I found myself in was… I am a young woman living in the city; every day is a scary scenario haha.

Which celebrity/famous person would you like to be your spokesperson… Billy Porter.

If you had to live in a city abroad, where would you choose? London. I went there when I was 16 and it was like magic.

Three people you would like to invite to dinner… Freddie Mercury, Dr. Seuss and Dolly Parton.

If we came to your house, what would you cook for us? Well I realized a while ago that I should probably stay out of the kitchen, but a few weeks ago I tried cooking again and made salmon with veggies and mashed sweet potatoes, and honestly, it slammed haha!

When it comes to pets, do you love or hate our furry friends? I grew up with lots of dogs, but I don’t have an ATM, but I would call myself a lover.

No matter the expense, send me a case of… Coke Zero. I am a simple woman.

The last time I saw the inside of a gymnasium was… I have never set foot in a normal gym, but the last time I was in an air gym was about two months ago.

What chore do you hate the most? Cleaning the fridge.

Do you have any phobias… Ducks, but I got over it. One of them bit my toe when I was eight. I haven’t looked at a duck the same way since.

Would you ever be on a reality TV show? Yes why not. Probably “married at first sight”.

If you could prank one of your friends, who is your target and how do you take them down? Honestly, I’m not a big prankster but whenever I think I made a mistake, but I didn’t, I always say “Scotty from Prank Patrol”, hahaha!

The best local takeout restaurant for a midnight meal that will leave you in a food coma? Coles Mud Cakes.

Which fictional character best describes your personality? I would say Animal from ‘Muppets’ meets Rapunzel from ‘Tangled’.

The last show you binge-watched? ‘Ru Paul Drag Race’. If you don’t watch it, watch it and you’ll understand why.

Molly Millington is part of the Fresh Produce lineup at Groovin The Moo’s Maitland stage on April 23.
