Moon Assist: Miami singer-songwriter creates Moonlight Jones alter ego – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports
Superheroes aren’t the only ones with secret identities. Sometimes an artist needs an alter ego to help them do their job. A local musician used the moon to create a character, and now his career is hot.
Jeff Agia (vocals): “It was a hot night, it was the best yet.”
This is the singer-songwriter Jeff Agia.
Moonlight Jones (vocals): “It was a hot night.”
And here is the super cool musician Moonlight Jones.
Moonlight Jones (vocals): “The bond between us has only grown.”
It’s the same guy. Surprising!
How did it happen? Why did this happen? Blame it on the moon.
Moonlight Jones: “I love moonlight, and it just sounded really cool, and ‘Jones’, I thought would be a cool combination. It’s my super power, I guess. When I go on stage, that’s where I really feel at home.
Don’t ask him to choose one style of music over another. He loves them all.
Moonlight Jones: “Music is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life. I mean, growing up, just listening to all the different styles and cultures, it really got to me. I’ve always been drawn to that. »
He took some of his favorite types of music and created a new genre. It’s a stew of sounds he calls “the cosmic soul.”
Moonlight Jones: “I would say, probably, like flamenco, rock ‘n’ roll, some R&B, hip-hop, kinda hit all the bases, you know.”
The first example of “cosmic soul” is his new single, “Hot Night”.
Moonlight Jones: “A bit of Santana flavor, a bit of rock ‘n’ roll and Latin.”
When you listen to “Hot Night”, you hear the local boy’s love for the Miami music scene.
Moonlight Jones: “Everybody’s like, ‘Oh, it’s just techno, or it’s just EDM or Latin,’ but there’s a bit of everything here. It’s such a vibrant city. I mean, the music is so varied. You find something for everyone.
